Installation instructions for flexi guard return roller guard

The function of the Flexi Guard Return Roller Guard is to provide pinch-point protection on conveyor return rollers. If the unit is installed correctly, the guard meets the Australian Standard AS 1755. Modifying the unit in any way may render the unit unsafe and not fit for service. Firstly, ensure that the unit is not correct the safe clearance will not be maintained.

Procedure

  1. Isolate: Lock, tag and try as per site isolation procedure.
  2. Ensurre that the complete system contains: 2 End plates complete with 2 metal angle mounting bracket, and two Aneil clips attached to each, two slide plates complete with 2 spacers with bolts and nuts.
  3. Remove the existing roller.
  4. Remove the existing return roller brackets.
  5. Remount the roller brackets and an end plate at each end.
  6. Install the roller
  7. The brackets and roller should be square and true and firmly affixed to maintain correct belt alignment.
  8. Remove Aneil clips from each end.
  9. Slide the polymer removable slides into place.
  10. Fit the spacer and retaining bolts into predrilled holes in the bottom slide plates.
  11. Check the gap between belt and polymer slide.
  12. Replace Aneil clips.
  13. Remove all tools and equipment.
  14. Remove personal locks and danger tags. Restore power and test run as per site procedure.
  15. Return conveyor to service and observe performance.

For removal of the guards for cleaning/inspection:

  1. Isolate and lock out.
  2. Undo the bolts locating the Aneil clips (8 @ 20 x 6)
  3. Remove the slides and clean (move slides to one side to clear end plate lower the clear end then move slides back to remove completely.
  4. Re-assemble guard.
  5. Remove personal locks and danger tags. Restore power and test run as per site procedure.
  6. Return conveyor to service and observe performance.
